Latest Backblaze News

Backblaze has been busy lately and I thought instead of making individual post for each new thing they have announced lately I would save you and me some time and make one larger post. The latest news from Backblaze is mostly for Mac users in some ways. The latest version of OS X Mavericks was released this week and Backblaze wanted to let users know that the desktop version of the their client is Mavericks ready. For all of the Backblaze Mac users out there the latest Backblaze Mac client is version 2.3.1. Backblaze users should have a seamless upgrade (unlike what I have been hearing about CrashPlan users upgrading but that is another story).

Backblaze also released an updated version of their iOS app. I checked it out on my iPad Mini when I could get it away from my daughter. The updated app is themed for iOS 7 and seems faster but I did not time it compared to the old app. Always great to be able to access my files on iOS when I have too. Would be even better if it was on Android, but no official word when that will happen yet.

Backblaze is also giving people a chance to win either a 16GB iPad Mini or 16GB Nexus7. The catch is you need to get creative and make a short video. This is your chance to recreate your favorite horror movie scenes using your computer or hard drive as the victim. Check out the short video Backblaze did below and check the Backblaze blog for all the details. I tried to convince my kids to make one but considering they have not really seen any horror movies they did not know where to start.
