Bitcasa Launches Open Beta

News from Bitcasa this morning. According to Techcrunch and the Bitcasa website they are now offering an open beta! You no longer need an invite to get an account. It probably does not hurt that they raised 7 million dollars in funding.

I have not been using Bitcasa much lately, been to busy trying out other services but I did just reinstall it on my Windows XP test machine and the service is coming along. It has definitely improved since I last tried it. I also noticed that they now have a Linux client available for 64bit systems. I hope to give it a try on the weekend and see how it goes.

I also noticed that their web portal has been redone. It has made some impressive improvements. You can stream video in the browser and the photo gallery has come a long way as well. Not quite as nice as Dropbox web access but a good start.

I noticed they have some new videos so I put together a playlist and embedded it below.

For $10/month Bitcasa could be a great service when they actually launch and start taking paying customers.
