Acronis True Image 2023 Review

Acronis has a long history of being a reliable backup solution and the new True Image 2023 helps to propel them into the one of the best cloud backup services available today. Unlike most cloud backup services, Acronis True Image 2023 is a full system image backup of your computer, not just your data files but all your files, operating system, programs and your data. I cannot think of another service that offers a true image backup like Acronis.

Installation
I downloaded and installed the trial version of Acronis True Image 2023. Things went smoothly and after starting the installation process the software downloads the files it needs and installs. It was

Backup
The backup process in Acronis True Image 2023 is very easy, so easy in fact that you forget how powerful this system actually is. Backing up is just a matter of selecting what you want to backup, and where you want to back it up.

Restoring
I did a test restore of my test machine and it was one of the quickest restores I have ever done! The backup was listed at just over 11GB and in just over 30 minutes I had my test machine restored to the initial state it was from my first backup. Selecting the restore point was perhaps the hardest part and the software walked me through the rest of the process. Just like the backup process has been made easier the restore process is quick and easy to use.

Overall
Acronis True Image 2023 is impressive as backup software and as a cloud backup service. The only thing that concerns me about Acronis True Image 2023 is the fair usage policy that comes with the new unlimited plan. Some services use the fair usage policy to force users to upgrade to higher paid plans or discontinue service all together. That being said the fair usage policy does state: “The maximum expected size of the range per physical machine is approximately 3TB”. This does give you some idea of how unlimited is actually unlimited. Whether 3TB is realistic for desktop computers now with 6TB drives being released is a good question, but for many users 3TB will probable be more than enough.

If you are looking for a full image backup service to the cloud Acronis True Image 2023 would be the one piece of software you want. It would be amazing to see more services offering that type of backup.
