AltDrive Removes 30-Day Trial Restrictions

AltDrive put out a press release today announcing that they have removed the restrictions that were in place on their 30 day free trial. This is good news for people wanting to try their services and ultimately end up subscribing to the service since their files will already be uploaded. To give you some history on the AltDrive trial, when I reviewed them they had a two month long trial, then it was shorted to 30 days, which is still longer than many other online backup companies. The trial then would not backup music, videos and files larger than 100 megabytes. This is the restriction that has now been removed.

AltDrive does offer good value for the consumer with an unlimited plan for a single computer priced at $4.45/month, less if you pay for a year in advance. They are also cross platform and run on Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris. Definitely a service to look into if you want a solid no nonsense backup solution.

Most people and businesses do not back up their important data regularly or at all. They do not have the time, or it’s too expensive or complicated. But it happens Рmistakes, computer viruses, negligence, fire, theft, hardware problems Рwhen files are lost, often they cannot be recovered. With individuals that can mean loss of important documents or priceless photos and videos. For a business, that can mean loss of everything.

AltDrive provides unlimited remote storage for just $3.71 per month (annualized) for Home service customers. An inexpensive utility style plan is offered for businesses on a budget. The company offers a free 30-day trial with no credit card required.

AltDrive was designed for the truly paranoid. For convenience, home users can elect to have AltDrive manage the encryption key. Additionally, the company has located its storage assets in the secure Westin Building in Seattle where multiple levels of security are employed.
