AltDrive sent me a note last week about some updates that were coming up with their service and it looks some good news from them. With version 1.41 they will be supporting external hard drives, offering two and three year subscription options and decreasing the 2 month trial down to 30 days. While not all of the changes are tied to the new version of the software you can already notice on their website that they trial is now only 30 days. I always did think it was generous to offer a 2 month trial 30 days is still lots of time to try the service out and see if it is the right online backup service for you.
The new two and three year subscription options allow you to sign up for a longer term and not have to worry about yearly or monthly renewals. For two years the price is $89.00 and a three year subscription is $133.50.
In my review I also noted that I had a couple of issues with installing the software. On Windows I had to do a restart before it would work correctly. This requirement has been removed, and you should not have to restart. The Linux install I did I had some problems with the icon showing up on Ubuntu. That was more an issue with Ubuntu that AltDrive and was easily fixed, but this has also been looked into and the Linux version should be easier to install as well.
