World Backup Day Tweets

World Backup Day 2014 is only 7 days away now and they will be announcing the presenting sponsor and other specials soon. It is always interesting to see what companies are officially taking part in World Backup Day since their is often some great offers to take advantage of on cloud backup and storage. In the past we have seen Backblaze and CrashPlan as presenting sponsors, and SpiderOak has always had some role in the day. Of course you don’t need to be an official sponsor of the day to offer specials. There have often been deals from Mozy, Dolly Drive, IDrive and SurDoc. The occasional LiveDrive reseller will often have a special as well, although LiveDrive has not offered any specials that I know of.

Looking at tweets from the many cloud backup and storage services there has been some mention of World Backup Day but not a lot of details yet about what might be coming.

Carbonite, who is usually pretty quiet for World Backup Day, tweeted a pretty sweet deal today. Looks like they will be offering 31% off on all new subscriptions.

CrashPlan tweeted this today but no official word if they are the presenting sponsor and no details of a coupon from them.

SpiderOak had an interesting tweet last week. While they might be referring to their new business product it does make you wonder what else they might have planned.

I did a quick look at many other cloud backup services Twitter feeds but did not see much yet. I expect Backblaze to have some type of discount, and IDrive will probably have something. SOS Online Backup has had a discount in the past and it would not surprise me if something is announced by them before World Backup Day.

Services that I don’t expect to hear from this year include Mozy. Mozy closed their affiliate program at the end of January and they seem to be focusing more on business and enterprise clients. If they do release something I post it, but considering the codes were released through their affiliate manager it would not surprise me if they don’t take part this year.
