Carbonite Updates iOS and BlackBerry Apps

Talked about Mozy launching iOS and Android apps, recently but Carbonite, who has had mobile apps for iOS, BlackBerry and Android for awhile, recently updated their iOS and BlackBerry apps.

 

With the new ability to stream your music through the app Carbonite takes a step towards providing a media service similar to the new Amazon Cloud Drive.

BOSTON, March 17, 2011 ‚Äî Carbonite¬Æ, a leading provider of online backup, announces new additions to its “anytime, anywhere access” lineup with the beta releases of Carbonite Access for iPad‚Ñ¢ and v2.0 of Carbonite Access for iPhone¬Æ/iPod touch¬Æ. Additionally, Carbonite introduces today an updated version of Carbonite Access for BlackBerry¬Æ Smartphones.

Carbonite Access for iPad, now available for free in the App Store, provides Carbonite subscribers with the ability to easily browse, view and share all of their backed up files.

With Carbonite Access for iPad, Carbonite subscribers can instantly enjoy their backed up media in a number of ways including:

Easy browsing of photos: Backed up photos can be previewed using thumbnails or quickly viewed full-screen using Carbonite’s integrated image gallery.
On-demand access to presentations, documents and more: Any file type supported by iOS can be opened directly within the app and attached to an email with one tap.
Instant access to backed up music: Audio files can be played within the Carbonite app in a matter of seconds. You no longer have to wait for the file to be downloaded before the music starts.

In concert with the new iPad application, Carbonite has released upgrades for its iPhone/iPod Touch and BlackBerry Smartphone applications. These releases have the same photo viewing and music playing capabilities as Carbonite’s new iPad and existing Android‚Ñ¢ applications.

Carbonite customers can download the applications from the AppStore, BlackBerry App World‚Ñ¢ or the Carbonite website. In addition to mobile apps, Carbonite offers web access to backed up files from any computer via Carbonite.com.
