Canonical Shutting Down Ubuntu One File Services

Ubuntu One Shutdown Notice

On the Canonical blog today they have announced that Ubuntu One will be closing down. Effective immediately people will no longer be able to purchase more storage or music from the store. Services will be unavailable from June 1, 2014 and all data on the service will be delete after July 31, 2014.

Paid users of Ubuntu One will get a refund from today’s announcement even thought the service will not shut down for two months.

Customers who have an active annual subscription will have their unused fees refunded. We will calculate the refund amount from today’s announcement, even though the service will remain available until 1 June and data available for a further two months.

Canonical is doing this to focus on their strategic priority of making the best converged operating system for phones, tablets, desktops and more.

For all the Ubunutu One cloud storage users better go and download your data.
