Diino Raises New Financing

In the middle of October I wrote a post that Diino had lost its financing and was set to close at the end of October. The end of October came and went and there was little news about Diino. I checked their website today however and was greeted with a note on the side that reported the following:

Message to all Diino Customers

We have reached an agreement securing the ongoing operations in Diino, and the service to the existing Diino customers will continue as previously.

An agreement has been reached with the Swiss based company Swiss Picturebank (Group) AG, whereby they have purchased assets, including the software and the hardware the current Diino service operates on.

As part of the agreement, existing accounts and services will continue to be valid on previous terms and conditions.

We would like to thank all customers for being patient and staying loyal throughout this recent period of uncertainty, and are pleased to have found a solution without any further impact on the customers. With this agreement in place, there should be no reason to remove data from the Diino systems or to change to another supplier for your online storage and backup needs.

This is certainly good news for those users of Diino and a much better out come than other online backup services that have had problems in the past. It is also a great deal better than the Livedrive resellers who have disappeared overnight with no word as to the nature of the problem.

For those of you using Diino will you be sticking with them or have you already found an alternative online backup service? If you are thinking of moving there are some fantastic Black Friday deals coming up that you might be able to take advantage of including a 20% off Mozy coupon and we will be announcing an incredible, insanely awesome Backblaze offer that will simply blow you mind for Black Friday.

Did you ever get an answer to the USB-drive qutoeisn regarding the assumed unencrypted files? I just paid for my subscription and it would be nice to know.Personally, I think it\’s a bit weird that we\’re not given the actual private key file but I guess that\’s okay given that they cannot decrypt any files without the password that protects the key file.Carbonite, for example, gives the user the full openssh key while Backblaze just silently dumps a public-key file in the installation directory.

i was sad to see their possible bankrupt and now i’m
    glad to see this new…

diino still focuses on archive backup (i prefer this IMHO) … maybe sync tools can be added now ?
