If you have an Android device, you know that Google automatically does some backing up of your data and allows you to restore it when you do a factory reset or get a new device. Some people want a little more control or would rather not fully rely on Google for their backing up and restoring of data. So I’ve compiled 10 different Android apps to help you backup your apps, files, and more! Some of them have more specific purposes while others seek to be an all-around backup service.

Everything is transferred securely with SSL and there’s tons of extra features in the online interface.

Created by Avast, Unfortunately the free options for Mobile Backup & Restore are limited. If you want to backup music, videos, or apps you’ll have to shell out for the premium version of the app. However you do get the option of PIN protection of your data.

CM Backup

CM Backup allows you to schedule daily backups so you never have to worry about losing valuable data. This app does not require you to root your phone and allows up to 5GB of free cloud storage for your data. This is one of the highest rated apps in the Google Play shop at 4.7 stars out of 5.

This is another app that works whether you’ve rooted your phone or not. If you have rooted you get some extra features like being able to wipe data and cache of apps, uninstall apps, and more. My Backup can also be used with Rerware Cloud, Dropbox, and Google if you want to save your data to a cloud storage service rather than just an SD card or your computer.

App Backup & Restore

This is a single-use backup service that allows you to save space on your phone by backing up your settings and data for certain apps that you don’t use often. That way you can remove them from you phone when you don’t need them and just add them back when you do. App Backup & Restore will then allow you to restore your settings and info to pick up back where you left off.

Easy Backup & Restore’s best feature is the array of supported places you can backup to and restore from including SD cards, Gmail, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Box. The only thing that requires a rooted phone is if you want to backup/restore app data or batch restore apps, otherwise it doesn’t matter either way.

Ultimate Backup is a bit more limited if you don’t spring for the Premium version and/or have a rooted phone. Scheduled backups, restoring from the cloud and more are limited to the Premium version. However the free version does allow backups to Box, Dropbox, Google Drive or local storage as well as a whole host of app management tools.

Helium – App Sync and Backup

Whether you’ve rooted your phone or not, Helium is a simple way to backup your apps to your SD card or PC as well as restore them. Unfortunately if you want to backup and restore to cloud services like Dropbox, Box, or Google Drive you’re have to get the Premium version.
