Update #1 Jan 20, 2013: The site has started to load again after 24 hours of being unresponsive. I was able to login but still not able to actually upload any files, even small test files will not upload.
Update #2 Jan 21, 2013: Site is loading but have still not been able to upload any files to Mega to actually review the service.
Update #3 Jan 21, 2013: Uploads finally seem to be working. Upload speed not particularly fast. Seeing 30-35 KB/s. It is a start. Might finally be able to test the service.
I wrote yesterday about the new cloud storage from Kim Dotcom simply called MEGA. The site launched yesterday to some great fanfare and a huge rush of user signups according to a tweet from Kim Dotcom.
250,000 user registrations. Server capacity on maximum load. Should get better when initial frenzy is over. Wow!!!

There was a brief time when the site was available but since then any attempt at connecting to the site is met with an error saying the site is not available. A quick check of downforeveryoneorjustme.com makes it appear that the site is offline in more than just for me.
Granted the demand for the new site seems to have been huge, probably more than they were expecting but for a cloud storage service that depends on the website loading it seems to be a major fail.
A quick search on Twitter shows a common theme that people that cannot seem to connect and still can’t upload anything.

Hands up if you’ve actually been able to upload anything to #MEGA yet..

Is #mega a real thing or is Kim just trolling people and we’ll never be able to upload anything?

From a users perspective this seems like a major fail on the part of MEGA who is suppose to be a cloud storage service that appears to not be able to even load a website or even accept an upload of files. Sure they are offering 50GB free accounts if you can ever connect and upload anything. Probably a good sign that you should keep your money until they can actually prove they can upload files and stay online, even without interruption from any government agencies.
So far it appears MEGA is nothing but a MEGA FAIL!
