I recently got an email letting me know that G Cloud Backup by Genie 9 has had a significant upgrade to this Android app. The new version has been updated with the following new features:
- The ability to earn up to 8 GB Free
- The ability to only backup camera photos and videos
- Enhanced scheduling
- New Battery saving mode
- Added more files extension support
- New interface
I have not had much of a chance to try the new version. I was curious how they were working the ability to earn extra space, since services like Dropbox and SugarSync use website referrals. As you can see from the screenshot I took if you are will to do a few simple tasks like tweeting about the app, liking the Facebook page you can get some extra space. Of course the largest amount referral space is if you are willing to spam invite your friends. I did not try the invite your friends feature yet so I am not sure how much space for each friend you get. It might depend on whether they actually sign up or not.
The G Cloud Backup app is a nice Android backup app and does not require root to do the tasks it does. If all you don’t use Dropbox, SugarSync, Mozy or Carbonite it is a nice option to backup your photos or if you want to backup more than your photos from your smartphone.
