Test Page for Google GDrive?

TechCrunch had a post this morning with some interesting screenshots that I was still able to duplicate. It appears that searching Google for “Writely” shows a page in the Google search results partly with the title “test page for Platypus (GDrive)”

Clicking through does not show much, just an error page for Google Docs. Perhaps the redirect to Google Docs does help suggest that GDrive is going to be a rebranded Google Docs, but only Google knows and they are not talking yet.

Looking in the code there is no mention of GDrive or Platypus. Not even sure why Google Search would create that title from the page that you end up on. Doing a check of the HTTP headers just confirms what we see. That there is a 301 redirect from Writely.com to Google Docs.

I have to wonder, given Google’s latest dive into the social networking space with Google+, if the new GDrive when it does finally show up will be integrated with the Google+. Perhaps how Picasa has been rolled into Google+ to make it easy to share your files with your Google+ Circles.

It would be nice if Google would finally just release GDrive so we can all try it out.

I just wish Google would release this thing already! I am getting tired of waiting.
