SpiderOak Launches 5.0 Beta

SpiderOakSpiderOak has announced on their blog the availability of the public beta of SpiderOak version 5. The new version has a couple of new features, namely the addition of a SpiderOak Hive folder and OS Integration.

The SpiderOak Hive folder is a sync folder that is automatically added to your computer similar to other services like Dropbox. This should make users first sync folder setup easy to do and to start syncing. Thankfully you can still sync any folders you want from your computers so you are not limited to just that folder like Dropbox. I have been using the 4.9999 version before this new beta was released and the SpiderOak Hive folder basically works just like Dropbox so new users should have no problem getting their first sync setup.

SpiderOak is also looking at having better OS integration. Windows will be first with Mac and Lunix coming soon. It will allow you to use a right click to access functions via Explorer. You will be able to to backup, share, and view historical versions right from your OS instead of through the SpiderOak application.
