It looks like the sale of Livedrive to j2 Global, the same company that has tried to acquire Carbonite, is now having an effect on Livedrive resellers. Yesterday there was a comment that came in mentioning that DrivePop was closing down. DrivePop was a Livedrive reseller, who was actually sold to Tapnet back in September 2014. Unfortunately there is nothing on the DrivePop website mentioning it is closing down, but there is a post on Reddit mentioning it.
DrivePop is not the only Livedrive reseller out there and it appears that Tapnet, has also been removed as a Livedrive reseller. Unlike DrivePop though Tapnet has found another supplier to power their cloud backup service. Unfortunately it does mean that existing Tapnet users need to start a new trial with the new provider that Tapnet has arranged.
While Tapnet is doing the best for their customers, other users of Livedrive resellers might want to start migrating to new services before they are all closed down. Especially if this is a new policy from Livedrive since they were acquired by j2.
Checking some other Livedrive resellers I could not find any others stating they are closing down. If you are currently using a Livedrive reseller and have heard of them closing please leave a comment and let others know.
